Emily O'Brien

Emily is one of our wonderful Administration Assistants in the SpeechEase Townsville clinic. She’s currently studying to be a Speech Pathologist at James Cook University, but this wasn’t always Emily’s grand plan. Originally, her heart was set on becoming a teacher – but after a work experience placement in Year 10, Emily realised that she needed a career where she could support people in a more personal way.  

At this point in her studies, Emily is looking forward to learning more about supporting paediatric clients as well as the all the cool places a Speech Pathology career can take her. Her proudest moment so far has been when she observed children in a day-care centre and had a moment of realisation – noticing that what she was learning was really applicable and making a positive impact! 

When she’s not in the clinic, or rocking around her university campus, you’ll find Emily spending time with her friends or watching Netflix and eating ice cream. Looking off into the future, Emily has some pretty big goals! First off, she’d love to meet Taylor Swift (she’s a diehard #swiftie), and secondly, she dreams of having her ‘Mamma Mia’ moment dancing around Greece.
